Keeping up with the trends is essential for web designers, as these can easily change overnight and a professional web designer must keep up with modern technologies. Although this is true, when the quality of a web’s layout is top notch then it will resist style changes and development.
This year has proved that Internet users are no longer satisfied with small changes such as teasers that attract attention and embellish websites, the public has high expectations and web designers are finding it harder to keep up with these and the market trends.
There are many rumors amongst the various leading Internet companies concerning solutions associated with the interpretation of scripts by browsers, and this year may still offer many surprises. What is already evident is that web browsing devices are taking on many different shapes, which evidently lead web designers to re-examine the designing of websites.

Last year was the turning point for web design with applications including HTML5 and CSS3 and it appears they have paved the way for the future. These new versions should allow for more flexible interaction between the users and the website, allowing the latter to come alive offering instant exchanges and live information.

These interchanges that in turn form communities appear to be the future of the whole Internet system. With the development of social networks HTML5 and CSS3 will need more support for the design and integration between the various sites. Although this interaction is working well at the moment, it is already becoming surpassed.

The relation between the Internet and users has proved that this is now becoming vital, which is evident with the devices that have been developed in recent years. You can now connect virtually anywhere using the smallest of gadgets, but these create a huge amount of work for web designers who have to keep up with these fast-paced trends. Now web designers have to consider the small sized screens and different displaying units which are complicated issues to deal with as far as the construction of a website is concerned.

This is why web designers will be certainly concentrating their attention on the designing of websites adapted to mobile devices as well as tablets, and the real revolution will be achieved when a website can be viewed on any type and size of device.

While it is true that for Internet users the choice of more powerful and faster browsers is a plus, for web designers these multiple browsers are creating real headaches and adaptation problems. That, added to the uncooperative attitude between the various browsers, including the different ways the websites are presented on each browsers, compel the web designers to make up for these inconsistencies. There is an urgent need for these browsers to find a common application area, as it would render the web designers’ job easier and would greatly improve the way website are presented and their loading time.

Due to these evolving trends and different devices used for the browsing the Internet it remains fundamental for web designers to enhance the quality of the web sites, which will definitely prove to be the winner over passing trends.

Ribbons and tags are by far the most discreet and silent of the web designer tools. When browsing various websites users do not often notice these applications within the websites, although if you look carefully you will realize that most websites have a common pattern. One of these shared traits is the use of ribbons and tags within the website’s design that attract the attention on certain points.

They are becoming increasingly common and some say even overused in websites. Tags and ribbons are often used together to focus on one main objective, attracting the users’ attention.

A ribbon perfectly describes what this is used for in websites as it is in fact shaped as a ribbon and helps emphasize a sentence or an area within the page. A tag, whose definition may be less obvious, is a label that is used at the top of website pages to mark an area on the screen.

Most of the websites that have adopted tags and ribbons are without doubt the best around as far as quality is concerned as they really do provide outstanding design options and attractive web pages.

Why are tags and ribbons so effective?
The first most obvious trait is that they draw the readers’ attention as they give the impression the page is a three dimensional area with a tangible background. This effect allows the text to come forward towards the reader who is subconsciously drawn to the content. Many tags are designed to have an impact, whether with the use of three dimensional effects or other appearances such as color or contrasting effects.

Most web designers place these ribbons and tags in important areas on the web page, to drive users’ attention towards these. When designing the website, keep in mind which are your priorities and then place the ribbons or tags near these. Often tags and ribbons work together towards the same end and should be placed next to important information. Ribbons, unlike tags can take on quite a few different forms and their shape can take on a form of an arrow pointing at a precise area in the web page.

Tags and ribbons can take on a fabric texture or natural element, a trait that greatly attracts users. Although these are only digital reproductions of organic materials or related elements, they add texture and life to the web design.

Ribbons lead the reader towards the top of the page, thus subtly inducing the user to start from the beginning of the article or page. This is important because users tend to browse quickly through the pages without really paying attention and more often than not will skip the first paragraph, which is the one that is meant to convince the reader to stay on that page. Ribbons are also an excellent way to bring web page headers to the forefront.

You will find that most quality websites use tags and ribbons for specific needs, while at the same time adding a unique visual effect that focuses the readers’ attention on what is important in the website. This means that users can browse through the website more effectively and will be satisfied by the content simply because they have been “guided” through it.

Typography plays a major role in keeping websites dynamic and contributes in making a website’s content available worldwide. However, many web designers do not consider this facet that important and consequently, do not keep up with the new technology trends that deal with this feature.

Although there have been no revolutionary ideas in typography, innovative techniques are been shared among the web designing milieu.

The first issues one should consider when styling text, is how readers will view these. A text will need to be well-divided into paragraphs as well as a few headings and the links within the text should be designed to fit in with the content. CCS properties can be used to design tags in web documents in a very precise way, allowing readers to view websites in particular forms and styles.

The modern outlook towards the typography used in paragraphs is the ease with which readers can follow the text, although many web designers still use small font to make web sites more stylish.

Headings have to stand out from the main text and be as direct and informative as possible, so readers can follow the various headings in the text and understand what the content is about at a first glance. The best way to attract the readers’ attention is by creating headings in different fonts and styles than paragraphs.

Line height is another important aspect of typography designing. The space between the lines within the text can be set in the CSS and added height between lines can considerably change the way the content on the website stands out. Added height between lines makes browsing content easier and is more user-friendly.

Links need to stand out on a website, as they are the essential elements that allow users to browse through the various pages and options of the web site. The style should be considered for both the default links within the paragraphs as well as those in the header, footer and sidebar that allow users to browse through the web site. The links within the main content and paragraphs should stand out from the rest of the text, so readers know they are actual links.

When styling and choosing the size of typography there are some issues such as how the text will appear on certain browsers and mobile devices. Content may be displayed oddly if the font is not scaled equally. Font sizes should be set to 62.5%, which sets the text for em units that are fonts used on the web. This will allow readers to choose the size of the page without distorting the text.

Modern web designing needs to focus strongly on the various typographical aspects of web sites, for they are probably one of the most important issues when considering how successful a website will be. Typography should be a focal point for all modern web site design and many resources can be found to help web designers keep in touch with this evolving aspect of web design.
