If you have frequented the world of blogging, it is highly possible that you already know WordPress and have heard about Tumblr. WordPress and Tumblr are two blogging scripts that are very similar and that also compete actively for their fair share of the blogging market people. WordPress is very popular and many bloggers would love to build their platform on WordPress due to its simplicity, flexibility and a myriad of features that appeal to the modern day blogger big time. However, Tumblr as a blogging script is also not short of features that attract bloggers. After all, there must be a reason why it is WordPress competitor.

However, not all Tumblr features are very appealing to bloggers. The fact that it is closed meaning you are limited in terms of what you can do pushes some bloggers away. For those who opt to use WordPress due to its open source nature; does it necessarily mean you have kissed goodbye to Tumblr features that had appealed to you. Fortunately enough, the answer to the above question is NO. It is indeed possible to integrate Tumblr features into WordPress to come up with a super blog. This article gives you the ‘how’ part of the process.

The first part of the ‘how’ is by use of Tumblr plugins. WordPress on installation is just basic blogging software with basic functions as all other blogging software. What takes WordPress further is the use of plugins that extend its functionality. If you already have a Tumblr blog or tumblelog, you can import it to WordPress by use of a Tumblr widget on your blog. If you do not have Tumblr but would still want to apply its style, you can use plugins such as Woo Tumblog. You can also send posts to tumblelog to give them a Tumblr effect before posting them on your site.

Remote posting is another way of incorporating Tumblr into your WordPress blog. This feature allows you to posts content from anywhere without even being on the site. WordPress also provides this feature in the form of an email through which you can post things on your site. Anything that you send through this email is automatically posted on your site. To incorporate Tumblr into this, you can set up the WordPress feature then use the same modes of sending posts to the email as Tumblr such as instant messages, Word documents and mobile phone texts and later posting to WordPress.

The third feature is access from Mobile devices especially with the ever increasing use of mobile devices such as Smart Phones and iPads for accessing the internet. It is imperative that website owners and bloggers ensure their sites are compatible with these devices. The mobile devices compatibility is also one of Tumblr’s best features; which has also been availed to WordPress in the form of mobile devices themes that enhance the usability and appearance of sites on mobile devices. Both platforms also allow linking of posts on social networking sites and updating of posts from either platform making it easy to use Tumblr features on WordPress.
