If the aforementioned tile catches your eye, then it must be because you already know a thing or two about blogging and you are possibly running a blog right now. If you are using WordPress for blogging; which is highly likely because today it is the most popular blogging software used by the greater percentage of bloggers online then you must also know a thing or two about WordPress. Even if you do not, you should not worry because this article will deal with the above title from all angles.

The first thing you should know or maybe you already know is that there are two WordPress sites, WordPress.com and WordPress.org. If you are a newbie, WordPress.com is a great site to start off with especially if you are completely new to the blogging world. It will offer you much of the blogging support you need and all you need to do is sign up a blog with them. Hosting, domain names as well as all the features you need for your blog are taken care of in this site.

However, after a while, you might want something more intensive than WordPress.com. You might want to extend the functionality of your blog, make it more professional and have more control over it. If you reach that point, there is no need to abandon WordPress because the other site; WordPress.org takes care of this. The god news is that you do not have to start from scratch again with WordPress.org because you can easily transfer your WordPress.com blog to WordPress.org.
Doing this is not really a piece of cake especially with the huge number of bloggers out there and if you do not know how to go about it but again it is not really that hard. You do not have to worry about losing all that you have worked on in your WordPress.com blog. Below is a quick rundown of the steps you will take in order to accomplish this.

The first thing you will need to do is log on to your WordPress.com account, navigate to the administration panel and then access the menus on the left side of your page. Once you do this, access tools by clicking on it and then proceed to click export. Once here, you are given a number of options in terms of the things you want to export. If you want to export all your information, you choose to select all authors. At this point, a WordPress file (WXR) is created signifying the completion of this process. The next thing you do is choose the ‘download export’ file and make sure to save in on your desktop in an .XML format.

The next thing you do is log on to your WordPress.org side, navigate to the admin panel and then access ‘tools’ and after that go to import. From the list of items that appear, choose WordPress and then find the XML file that you saved earlier and select it. The file will upload to the WordPress.org version completing the process.
