If you are well versed with the internet and online marketing, you probably know that it is one of the simplest and most flexible applications that you can ever use to build a website. Whether it is a commercial website or just a personal blog, WordPress offers you the unique opportunity of customizing your site just the way you like it. In addition, customizing your website is pretty easy. However, the simplicity of WordPress should not make you think that installing WordPress is a piece of cake. It is not all just about building a website and within a few minutes it is up and running but about investing hours or even days on your site to make sure everything is perfect and running as smoothly as possible. This is where the question of structuring your website comes in. This article highlights some of the areas which you need to structure to ensure the full function of your site.

Page content is an important part of any website that needs to be correctly structured. Pages usually hold static information that is not bound to change regularly such as contacts and information about the company and permanent articles. When structuring your pages, you can organize your information in such a way that you have sub pages in order to enhance the organization of your page content further. The pages and sub pages will be named in a very simple way with the main or top level pages being called ‘Parent’ while the sub pages below the pages will be called ‘Child’. You can find these settings under the ‘Page Attributes’ section whenever you are in need of editing the page.
Posts are another part of the website that can also benefit greatly from structuring. Posts are usually more effective in the blog section especially in information that requires constant updating such as news.

In structuring these posts, you can make use of a category that is; create a Category that will hold all the posts and then ensure that you have created a menu link to the category. As with the pages, you can utilize sub categories or Child categories from the Parent categories for maximum organization of the content of your page. In case your objective is to post frequent content on a particular subject, you can make use of Categories and Posts combination. You do not have to worry about the linking and formatting because WordPress will automatically do this for you.

Use of tags is another important feature that can help you to structure your website in an amazing way. Tags are links that are created from the primary information, posts or articles and they branch out to many other fields. By the use of tags, you can have a primary post with tags branching out into different subtopics. Tags are a great way of splitting posts or even articles. The good news is that as you create the tags, links to these tags will be generated automatically by WordPress. No matter what type of website you are working with, WordPress is your ideal application to help you structure your site just the way you want it.
